Monts st michel, Tours, Greg & Hallie

Yes……. I have been slack…

As I have failed to write for the last 2 months

Believe me….. I thought about it

Actually this year I have thought about a lot…………

But before I go into some type of deep and meaningful monologue

Let me tell you what I have been up to…

To re-cap it all off I moved…

The Tertrais are a great family… I just fitted in so well…

We spent heaps of time together I ALWAYS watch desperate housewife’s with Sophie (the mum) every single Tuesday night. My host bro Joseph totally loves me!!!!!!! His such a cutie.

I don’t think I wrote about the mysterious missing cat CASA..

Well the family cat disappeared about a week after I arrived (I just don’t think it liked me)

Anyways so American girls found her 3 weeks later..

That was impressive she seemed fine but after going to the vet turns out she was hit by a car and has been poisoned by something… no good but I got to met the Americans so that was cool.

Did I also tell you I went to church… yer my host fam is pretty catholic..

Though now I no longer attend as… I like to sleep in in Sundays!

In other news…. I wrote a song well actually 3 songs for my host dad’s band and they are gonna write my name on the next album which is pretty cool… don’t ask me how I wrote the songs because believe it or not I was in French class bored out of my brain (ok this class is not easy with my little Frenchies aussie brain mush)

Monts Saint Michel

Paulina came to stay… I hadn’t seen her in ages.. We hit the town and went BOWLING!! So cool technically it was in a nightclub but it was still awesome…. Then after little sleep

We had a rotary weekend at Monts Saint Michel… (if you want to know where that is look it up yaself – GOOGLE) That’s was awesome.. Not everyone came but I was with Greg (I am always somewhere with Greg) and I got to see my twin MIA!!!!!!!!! We had such and awesome weekend… meeting all the newbie’s.. Who I guess now aren’t newbie’s since they have been here 2 months.. But it was good we had water fights.. Did the famous months st Michel walk.. I sank in quick sand and got drenched.. And then we had old folk French dancing and had did not sleep at all ok so I got an hour maybe..

Oh and very exciting I found a TV channel in English!!! YAY! But it was all bout the usa and the stock exchange etc boring…. Well atm it was. So I had a bloody brilliant weekend.. Except it was COLD and I mean COLD so I arrived home with a fever and I was in bed for 2 days! Fun or what! Oh and I broke my red boots….. (cry here)…… but since I am a wonder woman I fixed them with super glue haha (cheer here.. With big smile) So that was my weekend at Monts st Michel.. I should mention I meet my favourite Mexican there Jorge!!! (bloody brilliant bloke) and Hallie my new American mate.

Tours

Greg’s parents came to Monts and that was awesome to meet them… Greg said goodbye to them on Wednesday and we went to Tours to see VICTORIA && ROWROW!!! YAY!!!! I wore my new hot ass boots!!! Trust me they are HOT but after 12 12 hours wearing 3 inch high heels OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!!! Pain people! But so back to Tours.. I got to see some of my best mates and meet all their new exchangers friends they are so cool, it was so good to go back to our old bar and I gave Tors her Big 18th B’day present she said she loved it!!! Weird to think they will all live so far away from me in a few months…

me and greggers

Hallie and Clare’s weekend…

Hallie came to stay at mine for the weekend, after her and Greg’s train delays!!!!! We hit the town, went shopping.. Brought baguettes ate baguettes and then hit our favourite Pasta place….. After seeing my old host mum Anita (awkward) we managed to forget some very important things for the evening such as….. La tire bouchon OOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we managed…. After a brilliant night of running to gets Greg’s train sitting in the parking lot and getting up to mischief.. We made it home (idkh)

hallie-here-019

I ended up with a rather large present from Greg…. Cough cough kind of a really large present that had to be broken… and a Brilliant fathers day present and if it gets broken I’ll be super pissed! So that was an awesome weekend.. I did spend almost all night on the phone to Greg.

It is important to remember….

Not to spill chips backwards

Stay off all computers

Meet randoms

And have fun!

Now back to the host family..

We had not just my host mum’s but my host dad’s birthday with 2 weeks of each other…

We went to a BEEF RESTAURANT for Sophie’s… they all though I was crazy because I asked for mine to actually be cooked and not red unlike the Frenchies!!! But it was bloody brilliant beef.

I spent the night laughing at my host dad and brothers destroying the table and making noises from the bottles. Haha classic

Then I was my host dad’s birthday.. Sophie made a bloody awesome CHOCOLATE CAKE I of course ate most of it.. I couldn’t resist and I spent the night dancing with my lil host bro Joseph haha it was great.

Also recently I had a school excursion…

To an antique furniture expo! Fun don’t ya think….. Na it was awesome to see old expensive rare beautiful furniture but its not really my thing… best part was piggy backing my mate because she was a little silly and wore killer high heels to an excursion!!! Smart one

Bisous xxo

The tertrais – yes i did move again!

Well after living with the NOURRY family for 4 months i MOVED!!!!!

i have to say it wasnt hard, but still i got quite attached and i really like the Nourry family they were always good to me… and treated me like one of them (yes that does mean there was wrestling and trowing of food on occasions) they were the funniest family i have stayed with in france, the things we all go up to….

not to meantion our memorable holidays, St gilles, the camping car, piriac It was all just BLOODY BRILLIANT! But i still keep in contact with them, we went to a family gathering together just last week!!

My NEW family (ythe Tertrais) are so nice, i’ve just slide right into their life style, I’m the oldest which is a change. i have 3 brothers 14, 12 and 10…. and they are the nicest kids!!! I have my own room also a functioning bathroom (unlike other houses) Sophie is a brilliant cook!!!! we eat something different almost everynight its great, i’ve made rum balls for them (i swear the french just love them)

We have to uni students who live in the flats out back 5i’ve never really spoken to them but they seem nice) our house is pretty big i’m on the 3rd floor so thats great hehe i swear it really does keep you fit

I’ve met lots of the tertrais friends since i arrived.. we’ve had loads of dinners.

on a sad note we lost the cat!!!! it was there the first week i moved in and then?? well it was just gone!!! also we have a pain in the ass neighbour and he made my host mum upset!!!

When i say i’ve slide into their lives i mean there was no transition i just became one of the family it was great i wathc desprete housewifes every tuesday night with my host mum 2

also my host dad Alberic asked me to write a song for his band (he’s real into singing and plays way to many intruments) so i did and they loved so i had to write to more and they will be out on their next CD pretty cool ey….

We live about a 10 minute walk from school which is great and we live right on a square and theres shops and a post office!! i’ve bee living there for 3 weeks now, weird to think i change in another rmonth

back to school

alright YES!!! i have been a slack ass and not written in so long

how about i start where i left off….

i started back at school and i have to say i was a little nervous 5not to meantion i had to get up early again) but first day back was great besides being extremly cold… everyone kept telling me how much my FRENCH had improved!!! like no one could believe i was the same person..

i’m in the class premier L, i have a heaps of new friends now but my main ones are Chalotte, Julie and laure. they’re such great girls..; i dotn really do at lot at school;;;;; you see my french is so much better… like i can read… speak…. but i havent yet even begun to accomplish the art of writing in french the spelling of words just eludes me!!!! like nothing you’d ever believe…

But lets get back to the main point my french is way way WAY better, i have begun french lessons for exchangers to help me improve my grammar and spelling

ok yes and also my pronounciation….. YEs in case you are wondering i do speak french but its not correct french its like this… imagine someone who speaks crap lousy english sometimes my french is liek that, you cant expect me to know every word just yet or to always remember what i was going to say

or even worse i still speak indo in my italian class!!! AWKWARD!! really getting way better at italian. I have a very dramatic class.. tuesdays avo’s i’m the only girl… FUN FUN FUN i have to say its an experiance.

Now to my classes they are weird some days i have 3 hours of class then a 5 hour break then 2 hours class its so annoying but its a good thing i lived so close.

So school has been another success, its so different from australia like you have to see it to believe it.

Camping Car!!

It was the twins 6th birthday..  I gave them some aussie soft toys.. a kangaroo and an kolal.. cant go wrong with that.. it was a great day the whole family was there..

2 days later… yet again early in the morning.. we set off in the good old camping car.. and yes i do mean it when i say old!  We travelled to Bujaleuf haute Vienne which is 300km from Angers.. it was a beautiful lake.. and wow was it green. we stayed in a caravan park.. set up camp and went swimming.. there were loads of englis people around.. and i mean like everywhere.. I rode into town with my host dad to buy some supplies.. i got mattress thingo for the lake.. to bad it had a huge hole and kept deflating i was shattered!!

th first night there was a thunder storm.. (i had my host sister waking me up asking me to hold her hand, she doesnt really love storms.) and just our luck the tent mattress deflated completely.. lovely to wake up on the ground!! arrgh it was gay!

Spent the entire day swimming the lake was just beautiful and i really mean it..

next off we were headed to Lac de Vassiviere just 30km’s away.. it was also just as beautiful… wonderful sunny day.. that night it poured.. and i mean it didnt stop.. Laura couldnt understand why i just kept sleeping throught it.. she said the lightening was gonna get us.. and i just dozed right back to sleep..

next day was over cast so no swimming my host dad asked if i wanted to go for a bike ride (his into all this fitness stuff) he said it was just 3km… well turns out.. it was actually 14km each way.. i have to admit thought the sights were amazing riding where the tour de france does and just the beauty of it all it was just so green everything was green the forests were so pretty i just loved it.. until we started riding home and it poured… we got drenched… and the showers had run out of hot water.. tough i know.. but i managed..

It was kinda like camping back at the Murry or Goulburn.. good times.

Next place was.. the village of Sarlat 170km we travelled that day.. we stayed in this caravan park.. and walked yes i mean it walked the next day 30km to and from town.. OMG OMG though the town was just so cute.. old as anything with beauitful buildings and there was a huge market on which we spent all day in..

we hadnt had a BBQ the whole trip.. so on our walk home we spotted the hardware store.. and yes we did.. we brought a BBQ the smallest bloody ripper BBQ i have ever seen… its so cute.. i’m trying to figure out how to sneak it home.. so far the best way to go is to say its my handbag as its that bloody smaill..

So so cool!!!

Next we left for Limeuil.. a village by the river on a hill… a hill which Laura and i climed to the top of.. talk about a view.. its was incredible.. well worth the effort.. and besides rnning down the hill was alot of fun.. the current of the 2 joining rivers was so strong it would take you down stream.. it wasnt a river of sand but stones.. about the sizes of shoe.. rather hard on your feet.. in the park we stayed in there were english people, dutch people and even Irish people… I have to say I of course was the only AUSSIE!

Had awesome Duck in this lace it was delisious!

I rode with my host dad again to the next village for food.. it was bloody ages away!! I dont think ‘ve every done so many kilometres in a week..(not on a bike anyways) after we then again rode (finally my host sis decided to move her butt) to the stables to book a 2 hour trail ride the next day..

and i have to say that night.. it RAINED yet again.. france has a ig thing for raining in summer.. we went canoeing that morninf.. it was so beautiful the river the serenity (now you reall cant explain that to the french it just doesnt work) My host dad and sis we’re practically i a race to finish.. me on the other hand didnt see why we couldnt just go with the flow.. but face it the french dont do that..

I had BBQ boudin for lunch (well tried it) its bolided pigs blood in a sauage not to great but i reckon theres worse. That night rode ur bikes to the stable tacked up the horse’s and we were off..

they told me mine was fast but bloody hell.. try ducking trees, pulling up your horse, watch were your going and not hit anyone.. it was effort.. we rode through forests, paddocks, along road sides, in corn fields.. it was going great.. until we were galloping and the horse in front of mine.. bucked and its hoof cut my horse’s face open.. and well as you can imaine it didnt like that one bit went nuts and I less than gracefully landed smack bang on the ground.. NO TEARS.. but **** it hurt.. but i got right back on a went galloped again and went across the river so COOL!!! But i have to say i was in pain..

Dont stress i didnt break anything just did major bursing to my hip and butt.. i couldnt walk for an entire week.. i hobbled about like an idiot!!

Since it was still raining, and i was injured we went back to Angers it was a 400km drive..

in all my camoing car holiday was awesome, i didnt go to well know places but they were beautiful, i enjoyed the simple life and got to see stars. i loved it.. also i only spoke french 2 weeks straigh hehe

District 1510

So my Rotary district was alittle empty for a while as all the northern Hemps went back home.. so this left me, Paulina and Greg.. Well greg was off in an exotic part of Europe, so it just left Paulina and I for the district confrence..

which was heald nowhere other than ANGERS! My street to be exact we spent the time visiting the village and had sushi for dinner.. i have to say not such a great fan anymore.. besides accidently eating the ginger.. eww gag gag gag!! and thn this almost as horrible green shit.. i was rather over the whole raw fish thing.. Also i just couldnt get the whole.. chop sticks thing workng for me.. it was tough!! but i didnt mind the seaweed soup bit fishy though!

besides it just wasn the same as SEYMOUR sushi.. yes i know this little town hasnt got a lot to offer.. but the best sushi round!! Cant even find better friend rice and believe me I tried!!!!!

So that was some fun.. next district meeting will be in NANTES hopefully with all the newbies!! Excited.. note that all new exchnagers are called newbies until they have at least been here for a month then we start calling them our friends. its rather strange dont you think..

Piriac – sur la mer

So straight after Tours.. i was off with the host family (extremely early in the morning, ok so just 8am) to the village of Piriac for 2 whole weeks. this little village is about 2 hours drive from Angers. Its a nice little fishing village.. we rented as small house.. some things you should know about this part of france..

it rains

it rains

and well it rains or is just bloody cold.

First time at the beach.. my extremely white self.. just so happened to dooze off.. oh for i dunno 3 hours.. just to wake with the redest body i’ve ever seen (worse than uncle luke that one x-mas) Some how while sleeping i’d rolled over so not only one but 2 sides of me where bright and believe me when i say bright red!!

i swear i got 3rd degree burns.. who knew the you could get burnt in france! Dumb i know but we dont have an ozone so i hoped it would be different.

I had a rather dodgy sleep that night.. i had to share the room with my host brother and sisters.. which is cool and all but i had no alone time for 2 whole weeks.. do you know what this does to a person.. well me in this example its drives me nuts because its ust got annoying..

So with my painful sun burn we went to the local trash and tresure market.. actually over the 2 weeks we went to a few of these.. i managed to find some old english books to read.. annoying thing was my host dad kept chasing me everytime i tried to read them.. his not a fan of english.

whist at the beach I did some pretty amazing things.. (no i didnt just sleep) such as ride my bike 15km in one day (Yay!! excecise is uncommon for me in france) get out own oysters and mussels to eat!! Yummy!! i really really enjoyed this.. as i am a major seafood lover!! I explored the beach.. with its raging tides.. no waves really.. alot of rocks though.. i have to say the beach was not really like AUS it was small stones for sand. and sometimes there was know sun.. talk about dull..

I unfortunaly.. get sunburnt yet again.. and guess what the next day.. i was off horse riding for 2 hours.. OUCH OUCH OUCH.. talk about painful.. the sunburn was the killer i admit.. it was beautiful to go hosre ridng on the beach early morning…

I spent alot of time playing ball with my host sis and bro.. mind you i was a spaz they thought it was always funny to aim at me..(4 on to one isnt fair) but i got my revenge with some good old water guns hehe and in france there isnt a drought so i didnt full as guilty!! =)

I went to the bastille day (french australia day) Celebrations at the Piriac Port with fireworks and all.. funy thing thought almost all the songs sung by the band were english hehe Just weird of what!

I have to say I got quite homesick during this part of my time here… i have no idea as to why but i just did..Mayb it was because all i did was speak french or have no contact with others but yer..

But thats the reality of exchange sure we’re always happy.. we’ve been given this great opportunity and adventure.. but things on the other side of the world are completely different.. here we do things we never imagined we would or could.. we are pushed beyond our boundries (in a good way) we are given experiance, lessons in life and a whole new perspective on things.. I’ve always thought of it was a rollercoster.. your up and down.. twisting, turning sometimes going around and round. It unperdicatable..  is the excitment the unknown and the challenge of knowing your capable of handeling anything life throws at you!!

Oh that i need to say a very big yet late HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my MUM soory i wasnt there i prmise i will be next yr!!

7 hugs & 7 kiss

Love Clare xxo

Also a huge happy birthday to Jessie and KJ!!!

TOURS with Rowrow & Tory

So off i went to TOURS awesome bloody town to spend a week with Tory and her host family (they are the best host family you could ever have beautiful people) First night Victoria and I went to her Rotary meeting it was in a beauiful Chateau.. the view of the town was beath taking. Her Rotary club is alot like mine.. nice people. So nice that I got invited to go PARA GLIDING with Victoria =) =) So LUCKY and just wow. Rowan went to Paris so i didnt get to see him for a few days.

CHARLIE came to Tours on the tuesday!!! I love charlie.. we went out for ice cream and some shopping. The ice cream was really good. I also got some gurguz shorts! it was bloody awesome to see CHARLIE again i love her so much!! Tory and I died my hair but we mis judged the amount and well it went jet and i mean JET BLACk but not to worry since i am writing this blog a month late i can safely say my hair colour faded to a beautiful brown i’m really like it.

So WEDNESDAY = PARA GLIDING!!!!

ahh so so awesome, We were collected and driven to the airport thingo (forgotten the word in english) my french at this stage was still average… so i had a little difficulty understanding everything that was said, we were shown the plane and how to use the parachute (just in case!) Victoria went up first.. i tried to watch but eventually she diasappered into the sky ( ok so the sun was bright and my neck got sore) Finally Tory landed and she couldnt get the smile off her face.

Then it was my turn to go up!!! Yikes…

Once strapped in the plane took us up above the runway the feeling wasEXTREME , with the view of the beautiful countryside. I have to say it looked nothing like Aus, lots of square paddocks and no bush anywhere and the trees where almost all pre planted by humans. but spinning around in a little plane ( forgot the actual name) and i mean around & round & round & round & round & round!!! Was awesome but about the 700th time your head does start spinning but it was EXTREME. Also being able to see entire villages from above was just amazing.. the chateau, the lake and just everything it truly was an awesome unforgettable experiance.    but to top it all off i got to DRIVE yes i got to DRIVE a para glider 4 km above the ground talk about dangerous and just as i got to drive i had this thought ( para gliding is really called para diving!!) So its safe to say i was a horrible driver but i did not crash or injure anyone or anything!!! Proud?? i know i am, i really would like to thank Victoria’s rotary Club for the wonderful experiance I t was bloody amazing!!!!!

That evening we went for dinner with victoria’s host parents on the river ( there is this beautiful place) where people dance (romantic old style) and a resturant it was such a lovely place, i wish angers had somewhere like it. We had a really good tasting meal of calamari and Chips. really good sauce to!! After wards we went to the Irish Pub (victorias host mum’s friends with the owner) it was pretty good.. driving home we got a little lost for about 15 minutes or so.. only yo discover we had been on about 300m from the house.

Next Day Rowrow was back from Paris!!! We spent most of the day watching movies.. Victoria fell asleep during dirty dancing..(she loves this movie just as much as me but she was tired) and as for Rowan he did understnad that its the greatest movie of al time and eentually he went off to sleep as well!! As for me I took pictures as i thought it was funny.. (kj i did consider drawing on there faces but these are good mates so i didnt)

We had the best Ice cream in the entire world after dinner that night.. It was from Thierry’s work (he manages the frozen foods delivery supplies place for canteen, hospital and resturant food) We got to tour his factory and it was mazing.. bloody freezing (-15 in one place) but just awesome.. blocks of cheese as large as you table for 300 euro (ok table was a bad example.. but it was just big!! So touring that place was just awesome we got told how everything runs and it was just so cool (in more ways than one!)

I got driven back to Angers.. just in time to pack for Piriac the next day.

I had a great time in Tours.. always do hehe

Tours, La Boule et Angers – June 18 th – July 3 rd

So after Euro I speant my time… um wait i’m not sure what i did.. Oh yer now i remember

How could I ever forget…

I went to Tours to visit my mates Rowan and Victoria (they are some of the most awesome people in the entire world) I stayed at Tory’s place for the night and we went shopping, ate pizza for tea and found a nice little pub. Also we saw a turtle in the park (no one but the people on euro will get how exciting that was) It was a good few days Tours is a nice town bigger than Angers. We had lots and lots of Crepes but i have to admit i was not impressed with the mushrooms. It was great to catch up with such great mate especially after we had the best experiance of our lives together on EURO!!!

Then my host sister LAura returned form her exchange in Mexico!! that was exciting she’s Really nice, 19 years old. We get on really well, she loves horses… and well i’m living in her oom so she had to change to bad for her. We went to La Fete du La Music which was exteme had a great time.. I found an Aussie pub in ANGERS.. I have to admit i havent been there just yet its um not very aussie looking.

Then I went to La Boule for the day with Callie, Greg, Emily and her friend It was a great day beach was pretty.. Greg and I went swimming but it was a little cold.  Its apprently the longest beach in europe.. didnt look that long to me though… believe it or not I asked permisson to go got the ok and get home and get in trouble for going.. did you know that La boule spelt different but pronouned pretty much the same way means surrounding area.. they thought they had said yes to me going around town not 100 km away.. but no big deal (my host family just love teasing me about it, WHNE EVER possible and I mean like at every opportunity)

Then Callie left FRANCE!!!!! totally uncool… i had dinner with her on her last night.. I miss my CALLIE!! she is now back in the US of A and i wish her luck with her Stuies at UNI (you better visit me in Aus!) My host mum to make me feel better took me to the twins school concert it was so cute.

Greg came to Angers and we went and Visted the Chateau and ate cheery ripes thanks to mum for sending them!!!! Then Paulia came later that day and we intro duced her to the MONACO.. classic drink. We saw the oldest tapestry you can find which was pretty cool.

About a week later I went to check out the house for the holidays at Piriac with the Nourry family. It seemed alright not the typical Aussie beach house or beach for that matter.

That night Aaron arrived in Angers he satyed for a week with at my host families place, Greggers and Matt came to Angers to see him and hang out. We ate steak as any normal Aussie would do, found real milk and ate the best cookies in town. Also we went to the park and got in trouble for sleeping on the grass.. (they dont do that in france) also we found this squirrl and well we thought we’d be able to catch it.. sorry to say but squirrl 2 clare and aaron 0, though it was bloody hilious the poor french really didnt understand.

Then I spent a weekend with the ‘Angalais family (they are a Rotary couple) Lovely people I really really like them, their house is beauitful and Madame l’angalais is an English teacher. I did 2 speeches on Australia for her classes last year. They took me out to see where the rivers join and we visited a little village. On the Sunday we went to their daughters birthday party, lots of french cooking I loved it. Saw 8 horses and got to pat them and everything ( i dont care about anyone else it was exciting i havent seen horse for so long)

then I was off again to TOURS for a week!! Some good stoies there

So that was an exciting coule of weeks
